2D and 3D laser cutting with TRUMPF laser technology
Precise sheet metal and tube processing for complex component geometries
2D and 3D laser cutting is a high-precision manufacturing process for the cost-effective and flexible machining of metal components. By using modern TRUMPF laser systems, both flat sheets and three-dimensional tubes and shaped parts can be cut with the highest precision.
The process is ideally suited to prototypes, small batches and series production, and enables high repeatability whilst offering maximum flexibility in component design. Furthermore, a specially integrated extraction system allows even special materials such as titanium to be cut without any problems. There is also the option of laser welding using a separate laser head.
2D laser cutting – precision sheet metal processing
In 2D laser cutting, flat metal sheets are cut to precise contours using a focused laser beam. This allows complex geometries to be produced without mechanical contact and without tool wear.
- High-precision contours and cut edges
- Flexible production of complex geometries
- No mechanical stress on the workpiece
- Cost-effective for individual parts, prototypes and series production
Typical applications include sheet metal blanks for structures, housings, brackets and technical components.

3D laser cutting – complex geometries
3D laser cutting extends the capabilities of traditional sheet metal working to three-dimensional components such as tubes, moulded parts and welded assemblies. Multi-axis laser machining allows even hard-to-reach contours to be machined with precision.
- Machining of tubes and 3D moulded parts
- Flexible cutting paths on complex geometries
- High dimensional accuracy even with difficult components
- Ideal for functionally integrated components
This process enables the efficient machining of components that would be very labour-intensive to produce using conventional methods.
